Our focus lies on the textile industry, one of the biggest climate challenges since it causes more tonnes of CO2e per year than all international flights and maritime shipping together.

Experienced Backend Developer (d/f/m)

Full Time (80-100%) from now on Django / Python

We unify interdisciplinary backgrounds such as software engineering, textile, design, business and sustainability to achieve this goal, with a diverse team of people.

We are looking for a senior full stack developer to join our diverse software team.

Your role & tasks

  • As backend developer in our software team you will be working together with our product management, three more software developers and a UX/UI designer to further develop and scale our sustainable software solution. Your tasks will include:
  • Conceptualize the software architecture and develop new applications and tools for fashion brands and recyclers according to UX/UI and design drafts. Our tech stack consists of a combination of Django in the backend and JavaScript for frontend purposes
  • Maintenance of our databases and our very own data standard for product identification, which you can find published open source on GitHub
  • Working on IoT software solutions to guide garments to the best 2nd hand or recyclingpurpose after use
  • Integration of in-app payment solutions
  • Support our junior developers to improve their programming skills

Skills we appreciate and would help you do great work in your role

  • You are experienced in Python and Django and ideally JS frameworks
  • You like to understand the big picture equally as digging into detail and producing beautiful code.
  • You are open to learn relevant matters of the textile and recycling industry in order to understand its complex challenges and solutions
  • You are experienced in developing concepts for software architecture and preferably have experiences with building APIs to software systems
  • If you are interested in topics of data security and open source this is highly appreciated
  • You like to take responsibility and initiative where you see you can contribute great input
  • You are self-organized and used to structure your work according to the jointly developed strategy and milestones in efficient discussions and upfront planning with the team
  • You will quickly find your way around in project teams and appreciate the interdisciplinary work

Data Engineer (d/f/m)

You are a data engineer and looking for your next tech challenge? You would love to use your skills to fi ght climate change and build a more sustainable future? At circular.fashion, we develop machine learning, IoT and software solutions to make the textiles industry a circular economy. We unify interdisciplinary backgrounds such as software engineering, textile recycling, design, business and sustainability to achieve this goal, with a diverse team of people.

We are looking for a data engineer to work on an AI project and support our software team.

Your role & tasks

As a data engineer in our software team you will be mainly involved in an AI research and development project for intelligent textile sorting. Success of the project means that millions of tons of used textiles could be reused and recycled which are wasted or downcycled today. As part of our team, you will work hand in hand with our two university project partners FU Berlin and TU Berlin which bring in data science and spectroscopy expertise. Your role will include:

  • Wrangle: Handling different types of data (spectroscopy, garment images etc.) and preparing them for analysis.
  • Launch: Making the numerous types of data and models accessible to multiple stakeholders
  • Explore: Use sci-kit learn, Keras/Tensorfl ow and pymc3 to investigate and present analysis of the data
  • Integrate: Combine this work into the current circular fashion software

Additionally, you are part of our software team consisting of our product manager, three more software developers and a UX/UI designer to integrate the AI solutions and further develop and scale our sustainable software solution. Your tasks will include:

  • Develop new applications and tools for fashion brands and recyclers with a focus on the backend. Our tech stack consists of a combination of Django in the backend and JavaScript for frontend purposes.
  • Working on IoT software solutions to guide garments to the best 2nd hand or recycling purpose after use
  • Improvement of our databases and our very own data standard for product identification, which you can fi nd published open source on GitHub

Skills we appreciate and would help you do great work in your role

  • You like to take responsibility and initiative where you see you can contribute great input
  • You will quickly fi nd your way around in project teams and appreciate the interdisciplinary work
  • You are open to learn relevant matters of the textile and recycling industry in order to understand its complex challenges and solutions
  • You are self-organized and used to structure your work according to the jointly developed strategy and milestones in efficient discussions and upfront planning with the team
  • You are experienced with ETL tools
  • You know how to write code in Python and ideally C/C++
  • For data analysis you can use Scikit-learn or PyMC3 or equivalent
  • You are experienced in database management (SQL, Apache Spark or similar, Hadoop or NoSQL)
  • Good documentation is a must for you
  • Ideally experience in data visualization, basic machine learning tools (regression, singular value decomposition) and Tensorfl ow/Keras or equivalent.
